In a heartbreaking incident, Kaddijatou Mballow, a 25-year-old woman from Sotuma Samba in the Upper River Region (URR), committed suicide on September 5, 2024.
The tragedy highlights the severe emotional distress many individuals experience when grappling with unresolved anger and frustration.A family source revealed that the incident began when Kaddijatou attempted to discipline her children.
Her husband intervened before leaving for prayers at the mosque. After preparing dinner, Kaddijatou retreated to her room, where she tragically ended her life by hanging herself using her black veil. Her husband, Hassan Jawo, found her moments later and, with the help of his brother, rushed her to the hospital. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The family believes her suicide may have been triggered by deep emotional struggles. Local police confirmed the incident and are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, including a possible postmortem at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital. Both her husband and his brother are cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
