Brigadier General Yahya Drammeh, commander of the Republican National Guard, has called on Gambian soldiers to remain steadfast in their loyalty to the state. He delivered this message on Friday during a visit to Fajara Barracks as part of an ongoing nationwide tour with the Chief of Defence Staff, Mamat Cham.
> “Loyalty is the foundation of our profession,” General Drammeh told the troops. “That loyalty must be to the state, to the Constitution, and to the political leadership. Carry out your duties with courage and respect for the rule of law.”
He urged soldiers to be consistent and dedicated in their roles while keeping in mind the economic challenges facing the country. He also reminded them that professionalism and maturity should guide their conduct at all times.
The military leadership’s tour of duty continues today with a scheduled visit to the State Guard in Banjul.
