Gambia Condemns Israeli Strike on Qatar, Calls for Regional Unity

The Gambia has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on Qatar, voicing deep concern over the rising violence and its threat to regional peace.

Speaking at the Qatar Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, Vice President Muhammed Jallow described the attack on Qatar’s territory as a violation of sovereignty and international law. He expressed Gambia’s solidarity with Qatar, acknowledging the country’s efforts to mediate global conflicts, particularly the war in Gaza.

Jallow reaffirmed Gambia’s commitment to dialogue and peaceful coexistence, urging greater regional and international cooperation to maintain stability in the Middle East and beyond. He also called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for actions that continue to harm innocent civilians.

On the Palestinian issue, the vice president emphasized Gambia’s support for the Arab Peace Initiative and the creation of an independent State of Palestine. He condemned the ongoing war in Gaza, highlighting the devastating impact on children’s education and health, and called for urgent humanitarian aid to reach affected populations without restrictions.

Jallow also rejected the construction of settlements in occupied Arab territories, stressing that such actions violate United Nations resolutions. He reiterated Gambia’s support for the recognition of Palestine and underscored the need for unity among Arab and Islamic nations to counter Israeli aggression and push for a lasting political solution that ensures peace and stability in the region.
