Angola has finalized a €225.26 million financing agreement with Société Générale to fund an Earth Observation Satellite System, enhance meteorology services, and upgrade a medicine quality control laboratory.
The agreements, signed by Finance Minister Vera Daves de Sousa during President João Lourenço’s visit to Paris, France, include €35.27 million and €189.99 million for the design, manufacture, and launch of a satellite in collaboration with the European company AIRBUS.
In addition, Angola secured funding for:
1. National Meteorological Service Modernization Phase 2: This project will expand the seismology network and support industries such as aviation, oil, gas, agriculture, and defense.
2. Rehabilitation of the Luanda Medicine Quality Control Laboratory: The facility will be modernized with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure better quality control.
The agreements were part of the Angola-France Economic Forum, marking the conclusion of the president’s state visit. These initiatives aim to strengthen Angola’s technological and infrastructure capabilities.
