The Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal filed by Modou Sonko, confirming both his conviction and death sentence for the murder of Pa David Demba.
Sonko was found guilty of striking Demba on the head with a stick, leading to his death. He denied the accusation and later appealed the verdict, arguing that the decision was not supported by the evidence presented.
However, the appellate judges ruled that the original trial judge had carefully reviewed all aspects of the case, including eyewitness testimony and the claim of self-defense. The court found no error in the handling of the case and concluded that all ten grounds of appeal were without merit.
