Two violent robberies shook different parts of The Gambia yesterday, leaving authorities scrambling to track down the perpetrators.
In the first incident, three armed men stormed the Access Bank branch in Brusubi at 1:33 PM. According to eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage, the robbers entered the bank from the rear entrance and, within three minutes, managed to steal an undisclosed amount of money from a teller. All three men were armed with pistols, and one brandished a short gun, causing the bank’s security officers to flee. No shots were fired during the heist, and the robbers escaped through the same route, reportedly fleeing in a Benz V-Boot vehicle without a license plate.
In a separate incident at Kunkujang Badjie Estate, three men, one wielding a pistol, broke into a Western Union bureau. They tied up an employee, Yankuba Darboe, before forcibly taking D77,275 in cash and fleeing the scene.
Police have confirmed both robberies and are actively investigating the cases to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen funds.
