Bangladesh and Gambia Sign Visa Exemption Agreement for Diplomatic and Official Passports

Bangladesh and The Gambia have signed an agreement to exempt diplomatic and official passport holders from visa requirements, strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

The agreement was signed in Dhaka by Bangladesh’s Home Adviser, Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and The Gambia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Mamadou Tangara.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Jahangir Alam emphasized that this step would deepen cooperation and mutual collaboration. He also acknowledged The Gambia’s strong support for Bangladesh in international forums, particularly its leadership in seeking justice for the Rohingya crisis at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Dr. Tangara described the agreement as a milestone in the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, highlighting opportunities for further collaboration in trade, including readymade garments, food processing, IT services, and pharmaceuticals.

Bangladesh now has visa exemption agreements with 30 countries, including China, Japan, Turkey, Russia, and Brazil.
