In a major step toward improving public services and infrastructure, the Brikama Area Council (BAC) has added new heavy-duty equipment to its growing fleet.
The council, led by Chairman Yankuba Darboe, proudly announced the arrival of two brand-new bulldozers and a JCB shovel. These machines are part of a D101 million equipment procurement project launched last year to strengthen waste management and public works across the West Coast Region.
“This marks an important milestone in our mission to provide better and faster services for our people,” the BAC said in a statement. “We’re especially proud to report that all of this was achieved using tax revenue collected locally, with no loans, debts, or outside donor funding.”
More reinforcements are on the way:
BAC revealed that five compactor garbage trucks, one skip loader, and ten large skip bins are set to arrive by early next month.
The council hailed this progress as a shining example of what good governance can achieve. “This is what happens when public funds are protected and used responsibly,” the statement continued. “It proves that The Gambia doesn’t need to rely on outside help—we can fund our own development if we eliminate corruption, fraud, and waste.”
Chairman Darboe and his team thanked residents of the West Coast Region for their trust and support. “Your tax contributions are making a real difference. We’re committed to using them to uplift lives and improve communities.”
