Manchester City delivered a statement performance at Portman Road, thrashing Ipswich Town 6-0 to climb back into the Premier League’s top four.
Phil Foden spearheaded the dominant display, scoring twice and assisting one, with his first-half brilliance setting the tone. The England star controlled Kevin De Bruyne’s cross expertly to net the opener before providing a crisp assist for Mateo Kovačić’s strike just three minutes later. Foden added another before halftime, thanks to another De Bruyne delivery.
The second half saw no let-up from City. Jeremy Doku’s deflected shot extended the lead, followed by Erling Haaland capitalizing on an Ipswich error to score after signing a long-term contract earlier in the week. James McAtee rounded off the scoring with a looping header from Kovačić’s cross.
While Manchester City celebrated a return to form, Ipswich’s struggles continued. Striker Liam Delap, facing his former club, was kept quiet by City’s defense, which was bolstered by Ruben Dias’ return.
City’s victory keeps them fourth in the table with 38 points, while Ipswich remain in the relegation zone with 16 points. Ipswich’s uphill battle intensifies as they prepare to face league leaders Liverpool next.
