EFSTH Receives Solar Energy System Worth D3M

The Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) took a significant step towards sustainable energy on Wednesday with the installation of a renewable solar energy system at its main theatre by Cornerstone Company.

Dr. Cherno Jallow, the hospital’s deputy chief medical director, expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a lifeline for healthcare delivery. “The main theatre is the heartbeat of this hospital. With these solar panels, we can now ensure uninterrupted power supply even during outages, which are critical moments in patient care,” he said.

Ousman Touray, a board member of Cornerstone Company, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to community development. “Our mission is to give back to society. By providing this solar energy system, we are not only empowering the hospital but also ensuring that critical operations can proceed without disruptions,” he noted.

Dr. Alpha Jallow, a senior theatre matron with over a decade of experience, hailed the installation as transformative. “The operating theatre depends on consistent electricity. This solar system will allow doctors to perform surgeries without the fear of power cuts,” he stated.

This project underscores the importance of renewable energy in improving essential services and highlights the impact of corporate contributions to public healthcare.
