Father Threatens Legal Action Over Suspect’s Escape in Son’s Death

Alhaji Baba Ceesay, a resident of Wellingara, has vowed to sue the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Interior following the escape of a suspect linked to the death of his son, Ebrima Ceesay, a taxi driver.

The suspect, Ebou Secka, was arrested for allegedly being involved in Ebrima’s disappearance and death. Ebrima was hired by Secka for a trip to the airport but never returned alive. His body was later discovered in Foni.

Police reported that Secka escaped by jumping from a moving vehicle while being transported from court back to Mile 2 Prison.

However, Alhaji Baba Ceesay alleges that a detainee informed him the suspect was intentionally released by police officers under instructions from higher authorities. “I cried when I heard this and confronted the officers at the station, but they dismissed the detainee’s claims, saying he wasn’t in his right mind,” Ceesay recounted.

Despite the denial, Ceesay holds the police accountable. “If the suspect is not recaptured, I will take legal action against the police leadership and the Minister of Interior. The truth about my son’s death must be revealed, and those responsible must face justice,” he declared.

In response, Inspector General of Police Seedy Touray acknowledged the escape and confirmed that efforts are underway to re-arrest Secka. According to Touray, the suspect was in handcuffs when he escaped during transportation.
