Gambia Hosts CAF Safe Stadium Initiative to Enhance Security

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) recently hosted the 14th edition of the CAF Safe Stadium Initiative in Banjul, aiming to improve safety and security during football matches across the continent.

The program, spearheaded by the CAF Safety and Security Department, has been implemented in 14 countries to train Safety and Security Officers responsible for stadium operations. The initiative seeks to ensure safer environments for players, officials, and fans alike.

During the two-day training, the head of CAF’s Safety and Security Department commended the GFF for its support and emphasized the importance of building capacity to address security challenges. “A new era of managing safety and security at football stadiums in Africa requires skilled and well-trained personnel,” he stated.

The Gambia joins other host countries, including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Liberia, and Tanzania, in advancing this crucial initiative to standardize and strengthen stadium safety measures.

This effort reflects CAF’s commitment to promoting secure and inclusive football experiences throughout its member associations.
