Gambia’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, alongside the National Water and Electricity Company (Nawec), has announced a request for qualification (RFQ) for developers interested in the first phase of the Soma solar-storage project.
This project, with a capacity of 50MWp and 18MWh battery storage, aims to be Gambia’s first utility-scale independent power producer (IPP). Upon completion, it is also expected to serve as the cornerstone for a future West African Power Pool initiative, further enhancing regional power connectivity.
