The Gambia is set to host the 11th Ordinary Summit of the Organisation for the Gambia River Basin (OMVG) on Saturday, under the leadership of President Adama Barrow.
Leaders from Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, and The Gambia will gather in Banjul for this significant meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation among member states.
The summit will address key issues, including the renewal of leadership for OMVG’s decision-making bodies and the management of critical infrastructure like the Sambagalou Dam and the Power Transmission Network.
Since its establishment in 1978, the OMVG has been instrumental in fostering regional integration and tackling challenges related to energy, agriculture, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.
