Gambian Lawmakers Approve D45M for 2025 Presidential Tour

The Gambian National Assembly has approved a budget of D45 million for President Adama Barrow’s “Meet The People” tour in 2025.

 

Initially, the government proposed D50 million in its budget estimates for the tour. However, following a heated debate in the Assembly, lawmakers decided to reduce the amount by D5 million. This allocation represents a significant increase from the D30 million approved for the 2024 tour.

 

Sami Constituency representative, Alfusainey Ceesay, expressed concerns over the budget increase, highlighting the country’s limited resources. He suggested maintaining the 2024 allocation of D30 million.

 

Countering this view, Nianija representative Amadou Camara argued that the tour is a constitutional obligation and requires sufficient funding to ensure its success.
