Iran’s President Apologizes to Qatar After Missile Incident

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reached out personally to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following a missile strike by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that hit a U.S. military base.

During the phone call, Sheikh Tamim firmly condemned the attack, calling it a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as a breach of international law and the UN Charter. A statement from the Qatari government emphasized the country’s long-standing commitment to open dialogue with Iran, noting that it has consistently pushed for diplomatic solutions in the region.

The Emir urged Iran to return to the negotiating table, stressing the importance of resolving tensions peacefully and protecting the safety of people across the region.

In response, President Pezeshkian expressed regret over the incident, assuring the Qatari leader that neither Qatar nor its citizens were the intended target of the missile.
