Man in Court Over Alleged Theft of Gamtel Property Worth Over D2 Million

A man identified as Mam John Sylver from Brusubi appeared in court on Thursday, facing charges of theft and causing damage to property valued at over D2.55 million. The items reportedly belonged to Gamtel, the state-owned telecommunications company.

The court heard that on July 5, in Kerr Sering, Bijilo, and other locations, Sylver allegedly stole copper cables and other materials totaling D2,554,323.25. He was not represented by a lawyer and pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Magistrate Kebba Baldeh granted him bail, and the case is set to continue on August 25.
