Faith Morey, founder of the Okachi Charity Foundation (OCF), recently led a team to Gambia to enhance educational initiatives and strengthen partnerships.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with key stakeholders, including the Minister of Education, representatives of the FAAB Foundation, and school leaders in Banjul. They visited Sarrekuda Lower Basic School, a historic institution established in 1984, to discuss strategies for improving education policies and collaborations.
The meeting focused on critical areas such as teacher training, special needs education, female empowerment, cultural sensitivity, technology integration, and medical support for students.
As part of its commitment, OCF donated to the Maestro Education Program and introduced long-term strategies to improve student retention. These include:
Summer school programs
Therapy and mentorship sessions
Recreational facilities and playgrounds
Community-based incentives to reduce dropout rates
The visit reinforced the shared mission of OCF, FAAB Foundation, and the Gambian Ministry of Education to provide quality education and healthcare for all children, regardless of their background. This collaboration marks a step toward sustainable educational reform and brighter futures for students in underserved communities.
