Authorities have released a statement regarding the escape of Ebou Secka, a suspect in the murder of taxi driver Ebrima Ceesay. Secka allegedly fled from police custody while in handcuffs, prompting months of inquiries from the victim’s family.
According to the police, Ceesay was reported missing on July 18, 2024. His body was discovered two days later in a pond in Kampant village and was buried by villagers unaware of the missing person case. Law enforcement exhumed the body on July 21 and transferred it to the mortuary for identification. However, the Ceesay family initially refused to confirm the remains, only acknowledging them five months later.
The investigation led to Secka being identified as a person of interest. He was arrested on October 6, 2024, and held in custody due to an unrelated robbery charge. On December 19, 2024, he escaped, and authorities have since been actively pursuing him.
An internal investigation has been launched to determine how Secka managed to flee. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to justice and due process in the case.
