Sabally Fully Supports Changes in the Draft Constitution

Momodou Sabally, the special presidential adviser to President Adama Barrow, has expressed his complete approval of the 2024 draft constitution, which is set to be presented to the National Assembly. In an interview on Eye Africa TV, Sabally stated that he “hundred per cent” agrees with the modifications made by the president and his cabinet.

Sabally praised President Barrow and his team for fulfilling their promise of providing a new constitution, emphasizing the importance of national unity and the challenge of reaching consensus in a diverse society.

Drawing a comparison to the United States, Sabally highlighted how even America’s constitution went through lengthy discussions and continuous amendments. He stressed the importance of allowing the draft to go through parliamentary processes for further debate and refinement.

While acknowledging the draft’s imperfections, Sabally expressed his full support for the empowerment of women and the freedom of expression included in the document. Despite its flaws, he commended the president and cabinet for their efforts, affirming his belief in the changes they implemented.
