In a major boost for the 2024 Nawettan league, the Tijan Jaiteh Foundation, led by Sports Ambassador Tijan Jaiteh, has pledged D200,000 in sponsorship to the Banjul Sports Committee.
This contribution, reported by the Standard Newspaper, comes ahead of the championship set to kick off this weekend.The Banjul Sports Committee expressed deep appreciation for Jaiteh’s support, acknowledging his strong connection to Banjul, where his football career began.
“The Banjul Sports Committee is thankful to Mr. Jaiteh for reconnecting with Banjul, where he once played for teams like Wailers and JSP FC. His spontaneous offer to help at such a critical moment is truly appreciated,” the committee stated.
Known for his low media profile, Jaiteh commented on his decision to give back, expressing his commitment to enhancing sports development in the region.“As a sports ambassador, I strive to complement the government’s efforts in developing sports. This is why I foster networks both locally and internationally, such as the Norway Cup and other partnerships,” he said.Jaiteh also congratulated the Banjul Sports Committee, the participating teams, and their supporters, wishing them a successful Nawettan season.
