Village Capital Backs Women-Led Startups in Agritech and Finance

Village Capital has invested $150,000 in two women-led startups, Rhea Soil Health Management (Rhea) from Kenya and Regxta from Nigeria, through Standard Chartered’s Women in Tech Financing Facility. This initiative supports alumni of the Futuremakers program, aiming to enhance innovation in underserved regions.

Driving Agritech Innovation

Rhea is tackling agricultural challenges in Kenya with accessible soil testing solutions to boost smallholder farmers’ yields. The funding will assist in producing Agripad devices, expanding their agent network, and promoting sustainable farming practices.

Advancing Financial Inclusion

Regxta focuses on financial inclusion in Nigeria by catering to MSMEs, especially women-led enterprises. The investment will enable the startup to expand operations, secure a microfinance banking license, and explore new markets.

Both startups credit the Women in Tech program for equipping them to scale sustainably and make a lasting impact. This partnership exemplifies a commitment to reducing gender disparities and fostering economic growth in Africa.
