A shopkeeper in Karantaba village, located in the Sami District of Central River Region (CRR North), fell victim to a robbery in which perpetrators made away with one hundred thousand dalasis.
The victim, Faye Sisawo, described the incident as a significant setback, explaining that the stolen funds represented all his savings. “The little profit I made from the shop is what I use to feed my family. With this unfortunate incident, I am starting fresh again. It’s painful because I was not working for myself but for someone else,” he said.
Sisawo urged the government to prioritize peace and security, particularly in CRR North, to prevent such occurrences.
Another shopkeeper in the area, Tijan Janko, expressed concerns about the safety of businesses in the region. “Many businessmen here fear investing heavily due to the threat of robbery. We are appealing for strengthened security measures to protect shopkeepers,” Janko stated.
The incident has heightened calls for improved security measures to safeguard livelihoods in the region.
