Two Killed in Fire at Gambia Naval Base

A fire outbreak at the Naval Command in Banjul has claimed the lives of a Gambia Navy officer and a fuel truck escort, while two others sustained injuries.

 

The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) reported that the fire started around 6:30 p.m. on Friday during the delivery of the monthly fuel supply to the Navy by a Jah Oil tanker. Thick smoke filled the capital’s skyline, causing panic among residents.

 

The injured individuals have been hospitalized, though their identities have not been disclosed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
