Aspiring PPP Leader Outlines Vision for Change

Alpha Ousman Jallow, a retired development worker who recently announced his candidacy for the leadership of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), has expressed his desire to rejuvenate the party. He believes the party has suffered from “a decline in recent years due to weak leadership and complacency.”

In a manifesto, Jallow emphasized the need for fresh leadership and a renewed vision to restore the party’s credibility, regain public trust, and prioritize values such as transparency, accountability, and integrity. With experience in organizations like the Peace Corps, Save The Children, and Action Aid, Jallow aims to reform the PPP’s constitution, ensuring greater transparency and better financial management.

He pledged to re-engage party members who had left, ensuring they feel empowered to express their views freely. To address the party’s financial challenges, Jallow plans to establish a national audit committee to oversee regular audits of the PPP’s finances. He also vowed to promote the rule of law within the party and foster self-reliance in managing the country’s economy if the PPP regains power.
