Brufut Tragedy: Man Found Dead After Attempt to Scale Fence

Residents of Brufut were left in shock on Saturday after the lifeless body of 33-year-old Fabakary Camara was discovered inside an empty compound, police confirmed in a statement released on Sunday.

The Brusubi Police Station received the initial report and immediately dispatched a crime scene team. Camara’s body was then transported to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, where a postmortem is expected to clarify the cause of death.

According to preliminary investigations, the compound where he was found is surrounded by a high fence topped with barbed wire and is usually locked from the outside. Authorities believe Camara may have accidentally locked himself out, left his keys inside, and tried to climb back in.

“He had a few personal items with him, including a loaf of bread and a flashlight,” the statement added.

A medical report from Ndemban Referral Hospital suggests he may have suffered a fatal head injury from a fall while attempting to scale the fence, although the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed pending autopsy results.

Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help with the ongoing investigation.
