Court Reviews GACH’s D58 Million Claim Against Former Gam Petroleum Director

The High Court in Banjul has made progress in the civil case filed by GACH Global Trading Company against Kaddijatou Kebbeh and Saihou Drammeh, the former managing director of Gam Petroleum. GACH is seeking to recover D58,961,150 and $221,000, which it claims were fraudulently acquired and retained by the defendants.

During the latest hearing, documents from Gampetroleum and the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) were presented as evidence. Lamin Touray, a subpoenaed witness from Gampetroleum, submitted multiple documents, including invoices and correspondence, which were admitted by the court despite some objections from the defense.

One document was contested on the grounds of authenticity, but the presiding judge ruled it was an original copy and allowed it as evidence. Additional documents from Jah Oil and GNPC were also tendered, detailing transactions between the parties.

Defense lawyers stated they were awaiting communication from their client, while GACH’s legal team submitted a WhatsApp message from Saihou Drammeh as evidence, which was accepted by the court.

The defense indicated their intention to amend their submissions to include new evidence, a request that was granted by the judge with instructions to proceed promptly.

The case is scheduled to resume on December 4, 2024.
