The High Court of The Gambia, under Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, heard the case involving GACH Global Trading Company Limited and defendants Kaddijatou Kebbeh and Saihou Drammeh.
The case, valued at D58,961,150 and $221,000, proceeded after attempts at an out-of-court settlement failed.
GACH alleges that the funds, intended for Gam Petroleum, were misappropriated by the defendants. Additionally, the company is demanding the return of $1,600 paid to Kebbeh as a commission for facilitating a petroleum deal.
Lawyers representing GACH requested the court to summon Gam Petroleum, Vista, and Koringo to produce relevant documents. Key pieces of evidence, including agreements, letters, and invoices, were presented in court. These were admitted as exhibits despite objections from the defense.
Witnesses from Gam Petroleum, Koringo, and Vista Bank also provided documentation, such as a certified Swift transfer, further supporting GACH’s claims.
The hearing is scheduled to continue on Monday, November18, 2024.
