Man Accused of Over D2 Million Robbery Remanded in Gambia

Principal Magistrate Muhammed Krubally in Banjul has ordered Seedy Faal to be remanded on charges of robbery with violence. Faal is accused of robbing Mamudou Jallow of over D2 million in cash and valuables.

The alleged incident took place on September 23 on Wellington Street in Banjul, between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. Prosecutors claim that Faal stole a bag from Jallow containing D350,000, CFA 13,000,000, $2,195, £170, and a mobile phone valued at D6000. The total value of the stolen items and cash amounts to D2,032,595.

Inspector Saidykhan, the police prosecutor, requested that the case be transferred to the High Court, as the magistrate court does not have the jurisdiction to handle it. Magistrate Krubally has granted the request, transferring the case to the High Court and remanding Faal pending further proceedings.
