Gambia Records Largest Airport Seizure of Ecstasy in West Africa

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), has made a record-breaking drug bust at Banjul International Airport, seizing 128,745 ecstasy pills from a Gambian national, Saikou Krubally, who holds a Spanish residence permit.

Krubally arrived on Sunday aboard Brussels Airlines, having traveled from Barcelona to Amsterdam before picking up the drugs and continuing his journey via Brussels. Anti-narcotic agents trailed him after he checked out of the airport and arrested him near the Sukuta traffic roundabout. Reports suggest he was paid €10,000 to transport the drugs.

Authorities describe this as one of the largest single ecstasy seizures at an airport in West Africa. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. DLEAG has reiterated its commitment to making Banjul Airport an unviable route for drug traffickers.
