The Government of The Gambia has expressed strong condemnation following a recent attack on the residence of the United Arab Emirates Ambassador in Khartoum, Sudan.
The attack is seen as a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which protects diplomatic premises. The Gambian government calls on the authorities in Sudan to ensure the safety and security of all diplomatic properties and to bring those responsible for this act to justice.
In its statement, The Gambia also urged all parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to show restraint and pursue peace through inclusive political dialogue. As Chair of the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, The Gambia further encouraged member states to expedite efforts for the restoration of peace, democracy, and constitutional rule in Sudan.
