President Adama Barrow, leader of the National People’s Party (NPP) and head of the ruling alliance, hosted a strategic meeting on April 20th with regional executive members of allied parties to solidify unity and prepare for the 2026 elections.
The high-level gathering, moderated by Deputy Spokesman Seedy S.K. Njie, brought together eight political parties forming the coalition: NPP, APRC, NRP, GMC, CA, GPDP, ANRD, and NCP. The Democratic Party was absent due to its national congress.
The meeting focused on political, social, and economic priorities, with attendees endorsing President Barrow’s leadership and applauding his administration’s development efforts. Highlights included the nationwide electrification project, major investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and civil service reforms—most notably, a 110% increase in civil servant salaries over seven years.

Speakers praised the government’s adherence to democratic principles, rule of law, and citizens’ rights. Seedy Ceesay, NPP Administrative Secretary, emphasized the coalition’s strategic focus on unity and electoral victory. Hon. Mai Ahmad Fatty urged continued support for Barrow’s presidential candidacy, while Dr. Demba Sabally encouraged deeper regional cooperation.
In closing, President Barrow thanked coalition members for their trust and pledged continued progress. He reaffirmed his goals of universal access to electricity, clean water, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, promising a modern, prosperous Gambia. He also called for joint political activities moving forward to strengthen collaboration and ensure success at the polls.
